CLUSTER · Consortium Linking Universities of Science and Technology for Education and Research

The Consortium Linking Universities of Science and Technology for Education and Research is a network of leading European Universities of Technology. Their fundamental missions are advanced research and higher education of engineers, scientists and architects. Their common goal within CLUSTER is the quest towards excellence in the fulfillment of these missions.

The CLUSTER Universities have agreed on a set of common policy statements, in particular the convention on mutual recognition of titles stating that students from other CLUSTER institutions will be admitted like local students to master and PhD programmes.

CLUSTER Dual Masters

The CLUSTER Dual Masters program at IST allow master students who study one year at IST and one year at another CLUSTER university (with a valid agreement with IST) to obtain two Master Diplomas at the end of the study period. General questions regarding these agreements can be directed to the Vice-President for International Affairs.

How to apply?

  • Students wishing to participate in the Dual Masters Program must apply in their home institution.
  • IST students who have already applied to other mobility programs may also apply to the CLUSTER Dual Masters program.
  • Students must have the first cycle of studies complete when initiating the mobility period.
  • Applicants will be selected by IST and by the partner school.
  • The selection will be base on the students academic performance.
  • IST students must apply at the Mobility and International Cooperation Office and use the specific Application Forms (PDF, 88KB).

Studying at IST

The IST, created in 1911, is the largest and most reputed school of engineering, science and technology in Portugal. IST’s mission is to contribute to the development of society by promoting a higher education of outstanding quality in the areas of Engineering, Science and Technology, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and by carrying out research and development activities in accordance with the highest international standards.

IST offers a stimulating atmosphere for students from the CLUSTER universities wishing to enrol in the IST postgraduation programmes. A significant number of PhD students and researchers at IST are originary from foreign countries, contributing to an international research and training environment.
