The IST Alameda campus is located in Lisbon’s centre, which provided privileged access to the city’s main points of scientific, cultural and entertaining interest. The transport network allows for na easy mobility for across the city.

The campus infrastructure network contributes for the quality of education; the different areas facilitate the development of extra-school activities, a true university environment that stimulates the skills of students, faculty and non-teaching staff.

Thus, living at IST is not restricted to academic activities. The School also stimulates research and development activities and an array of supplementary activities, such as the organization of scientific conferences, seminars or workshops, promoting multi-disciplinarity and the promotion of cultural activities.

The expansion of Instituto Superior Técnico to the Taguspark science park, allowed for the construction of a modern campus which offers excellent conditions for teaching, research and development. The physical and human environment is vital for learning - and IST at Taguspark was designed to be adapted to future’s demands.

The surrounding area is crowded with technology-based companies, with which the IST tries to develop highly advantageous relationships for students. IST students can therefore create a comprehensive contact network, inside and outside of IST, which is of great importance for their professional future. Overlooking the sea, this modern campus, located in the council of Oeiras, is linked to the Alameda campus through its own transport system and has small university residence unit in Leião and an accommodation service for students residing outside of the region.
