Get to know IST

Studying at Técnico is a lifetime experience! Today, the IST is known nationally and internationally as one of the largest Engineering, Architecture, Science and Technology Universities. By previously contacting the Student Support Unit - NAPE, you can schedule a visit to its two campuses, located at Alameda (Lisbon) and Taguspark (Porto Salvo, Oeiras), or call our helpdesk services, through which the IST students will be at your entire disposal to give you information and introduce you to great challenges that you may be part of.

One school, two campuses

The IST Alameda campus is located in one of the centermost areas in Lisbon, which offers privileged access to the main cultural and leisure points of interest. The public transport network allows for easy mobility to all areas of Lisbon. The infrastructure network contributes to a unique and unforgettable university experience. The modern campus at Taguspark offers top-notch facilities for education and research, not to speak its excellent human environment which fosters interpersonal relationships.

Living in Lisbon

Lisbon offers an immense array of cultural, leisure and entertainment opportunities. The cultural diversity is a distinctive feature of one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe, full of touist and heritage sites of interest. The strength of the sea and the river makes it even more emblematic. Its modern urban public transport network allows for comfortable, quick and affordable mobility of its residents.

Sport and culture

Sport and culture play a pivotal role in IST life, therefore contributing that university life goes beyond campus walls. Cinema, drama, music, painting, academic journalism, among other activities have had a growing importance. There, it is also possible to play a wide variety of sports, such as Basketball, Football, Handball and Rugby, among others. There is also an indoor swimming-pool, a multi-sport field, a tennis court and a modern multi-spot pavilion.

Residence

The Eng.º Duarte Pacheco Students Residence has been in operation since 1998. Located in the area of Parque das Nações (near the EXPO98 world exhibition area), one of the most modern and pleasant areas in Lisbon. It has a capacity for 225 students, distributed by 153 single rooms and 36 double rooms. Residents are provided with a living room (with satellite Tv access, as well as wireless Internet access), a games room and a study room equipped with computers. They also have laundry services, kitchens, garage, etc.
